The USC Trojans are looking for a new head coach after firing Lane Kiffin following the team’s embarrassing loss to Arizona State over the weekend, and one man is emerging as the favorite to take over the job.
Former USC linebacker Jack Del Rio is a name that has been floated around and he’s being considered the most likely to take over the job.
Bovada.lv sportsbook manager Kevin Bradley shed some light on Del Rio being the favorite:
With the Broncos rolling once again yesterday and the Jags getting blown out, I have been asked numerous times already what the projected Week 6 spread will be when Denver hosts Jacksonville. Before yesterday I would have said it would be three touchdowns but considering yesterday’s results, the fact that Seattle easily covered 19.5 at home against Jacksonville, and how our bettors have been pounding Denver every week and betting against the Jags like it is free money, this spread is looking closer to four touchdowns. Barring any injuries or something very dramatic occurring, I would expect this to be the biggest spread we have ever posted.”
Del Rio has head coaching experience with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL, but he has spent most of his time as a coordinator. His current gig is as Denver Broncos defensive coordinator, but he has also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but no matter what happens the fans will be happy to have a new man in charge.
