The Atlanta Braves will be leaving second baseman Dan Uggla off of their roster when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com has the scoop:

"Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez met with some players regarding roster decisions after the team held a workout that was closed to media members on Tuesday at Turner Field.  An industry source said Uggla was informed that he will not be part of the 25-man roster the Braves will use during their best-of-five NLDS matchup against the Dodgers."

This really isn’t much of a surprise. Despite hitting 22 home runs and driving in 55 runs in 126 games this season, Uggla is hitting just .179, has an on base percentage of .309 and is slugging .362. As Drew Silva of Hardball Talk notes, Uggla has “batted .099 with a .416 OPS over his final 129 regular-season plate appearances and the Braves have grown comfortable with Elliot Johnson at second base.”

Uggla is still owed $26 million over the next two years.
