The Pittsburgh Penguins will begin the 2013-14 NHL season without defenseman Kris Letang in the line up. Letang is currently sidelined with a lower body injury, but it is not expected to keep him out for a significant amount of time. In fact, Letang could be back in action in just over a week.
From Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Bylsma says he does not believe Letang’s injury is a long-term issue and that he can be activated as early as Oct 8.

The injury was suffered by Letang at the end of next week and he has not resumed skating since.
With the current timetable for his return, Letang will miss the Penguins first two games of the season against the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres.
It is obviously very early in the season, so it is the right time for Letang to focus on getting healthy and prepare for a full season ahead.
