According to a press release Tuesday, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) named T.T. Barber, sophomore linebacker on the Middle Tennessee football team, its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Blue Raiders’ 37-10 loss at BYU last Saturday.

Barber recorded a career-high 15 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. He has 59 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception in five games this season.

This is the second time the TSWA has honored Barber for his play on the field. He was previously recognized in 2012.

Middle Tennessee (3-2, 1-0 Conference USA) hosts East Carolina for its homecoming game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro. The tilt can be watched on Fox Sports Network.
