Great news for Northwestern fans: Venric Mark, who earned second-team All-Big Ten honors for the Wildcats last season, will be returnign to the field in time for Northwestern’s game against the Ohio State Buckeyes this upcoming Saturday. Mark played against the California Golden Bears earlier this season but sat out the next three games.
While Mark decided not to reveal the specifics of the injury that kept him on the sideline, he did tell reporters that he’s excited to be back on the field:
I feel real good now. I’m just ready to help the team. I’ve been itching to get back on the field. I feel like a spectator a little bit. I’m not really used to that at all (ESPN).
Mark ran for 1,366 yards in 2012 and averaged 6.0 yards per carry. He was also one of the most dangerous punt returners in the nation, averaging 18.7 yards per return. The Wildcats will certainly need his explosiveness against a Buckeyes team that has looked dominant in 2013.
The game between the two Big Ten foes can be seen at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
