Currently third in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch is in prime contention to capture his first title. One of the top drivers in NASCAR, Busch’s lack of championship success has caused people to compare him with Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
It’s a comparison that Busch doesn’t entirely mind.
Busch spoke on Tuesday about the respect he has for Peyton Manning and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, saying he draws on both of them for inspiration:
Though [Manning] does have a championship ring, he’s the god of the regular season and sort of doesn’t do so well in the postseason. I think that’s going to change this year with Peyton.
It’s more of an appreciation and respect that you watch guys who are good at what they do and can achieve in their own realm. There’s a reason Tom Brady has won three Super Bowls and is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. There’s a reason that Peyton Manning is considered one of the best as well. Busch will hopefully replicate the success Manning and Brady have had this season when he heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend. The race won’t be easy, though, as Busch only has two top-ten finishes at the track and has crashed there multiple times.
