Brad Keselowski will be driving the Miller Lite car for Penske Racing for a few more years as a contract extension has been signed. But this isn’t the first extension Keselowski has signed with Penske Racing.
Back in 2011, the two parties signed a contract to keep Keselowski though next year, but there was a desire for a longer term. This also extends the No.2 car’s sponsor, Miller Lite. Miller Lite has been the staple sponsor for Penske Racing for 22 years, and that number will be going up.
There is one peculiar characteristic with the new deal however. Penske Racing specifically requested that the deal last 24 games instead of the usual 36 races in a season. According to an article on ESPN, “The Penske organization believes it can sell those 12 races elsewhere to generate new revenue.” Regardless of the situation, all parties are happy to be working with each other in the future.
Brad Keselowski said this to the Associated Press regarding the contract extension,
It makes me feel very comfortable to go the extra mile to sign a long-term deal. At this point in time, with all these deals lined up, the health, the future of Penske Racing and its employees is now secured, at minimum, for the next half-decade.
