He owns a Baseball team, but former President George W. Bush will sit in for President Barrack Obama this morning when the competition at the President’s Cup gets underway. The current President is a huge golf fan, but is battling the economy, and couldn’t make the trip to Columbus to kick off the event named for our National Leader. Jack Nicklaus is hosting the event at his Muirfield Village Golf Club. Teams have been set for Fourballs which begins at 11:45 AM this morning.

There was a huge party to kick off the event in Columbus on Wednesday evening that included The President from the White House, fireworks, bands, and a performance by Rascal Flats. Now that the pre-tournament ceremonies are done, it’s time to play golf.

The match-ups and pairings were interesting to say the least. It was no surprise after watching Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar and Jordan Spieth playing as a group during the practice round who was going to be playing with Tiger Woods. He will play alongside Matt Kuchar, and Steve Stricker will provide early mentoring to the youngster Spieth.

Thursday Fourballs Lineup:

Hunter Mahan/Brandt Snedeker  vs  Jason Day/Graham DeLaet

Bill Haas/Webb Simpson                 vs  Adam Scott/ Hideki Matsuyama

Phil Mickelson/Keegan Bradley   vs  Louis Oosthuizen/ Charl Schwartzel

Steve Stricker/ Jordan Spieth       vs Ernie Els/ Brendon de Jonge

Matt Kuchar/ Tiger Woods             vs  Angel Cabrera/ Marc Leishman

Zach Johnson/ Jason Dufner         vs Branden Grace/ Richard Sterne

As fans, we have discussed every aspect of this tournament, and have had all of the fanfare that comes with an International event. Coverage on the Golf Channel will begin at 1 PM Eastern.  Now it’s time to tee it up and let the best team win!
