New Orleans Saints’ Jimmy Graham becomes first TE to win award

New Orleans Saints’ tight end Jimmy Graham has become the first at his position to win the NFC Offensive Player of the Month award.

Graham had 27 receptions for 458 yards and six touchdowns as the Saints rolled to a perfect four wins and zero losses in September.

“He’s a big target. He’s extremely athletic. He’s got this fire and passion and will to succeed and to work at it. He wants to be great. That’s all you want in a teammate and in a target,” Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees said according to ESPN.com’s Mike Triplett. ”A lot of times you take a player and it’s like, ‘OK, these are his strengths, but then he’s got these weaknesses that we’re going to stay away from and we’re just going to try to utilize the strengths.’ You then encounter certain players like Jimmy Graham and you just say, ‘OK, this guy has the ability to have all strengths and no weaknesses.’

That’s high praise from the perennial All Pro Brees, and rightfully so.

Graham has performances of 10 receptions for 179 yards and a TD against Tampa Bay, 9 receptions for 134 yards and 2 TDs against Arizona, and 4 receptions for 100 yards and 2 TDs against Miami to his credit this season.

The Saints’ tight end has caught a TD pass in all four of his team’s games this season.
