New York Jets’ Mo Wilkerson & Quinton Coples to appeal fines for hits on Jake Locker
By Jason Marcum
The New York Jets are licking their wounds after their most recent blowout loss. This time being at the hands of the Tennessee Titans, who lost quarterback Jake Locker after he was hit late by defensive lineman Mo Wilkerson and outside linebacker Quinton Coples.
Now, they’re getting hit in the wallet as well, as Wilkerson has been fined approximately $15,000 and OLB Quinton Coples $7,875 for their hits on Locker, which now has him sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks and may derail the Titans’ promising season after beginning the year with a surprising 3-1 start.
"“I know I’m not a dirty player,” Wilkerson said, via the Newark Star Ledger. “I think it was a clean hit. And that’s that. … At the end of the day, people have their thoughts. Some people thought it was dirty. I can’t make that decision.”"
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora says that an appeal for Wilkerson already has been made.
Coples plans to appeal the fine as well.
