After joining the Miami Dolphins, Bush started to become more of a complete back, rushing for a career-high 1,086 yards in 2011. He showed flashes of a back who looked like he was drafted in the top-10, but behind a porous offensive line and dealing with an unstable rotation of quarterbacks, he was let go after two solid seasons.

Now, with the Detroit Lions, he’s becoming the back everyone thought he was capable of becoming when he came out of USC.

"“When I look back, I’m so much more advanced in just my vision, my understanding of schemes, linebackers, where they have to play their gaps and just all the different things that come along with being a running back,” Bush said. “So it’s taken a while. It didn’t happen overnight. It took me a while, took a couple years. “I would say it took a good four or five years until I really had a true, good understanding of defenses and schemes and how to run the ball.”"
