Yesterday it was reported that Alabama Crimson Tide safety and potential 2014 first-round pick HaHa Clinton-Dix had been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules and today we have a better understanding of why.
According to reports, Alabama’s assistant strength and conditioning coach Corey Harris has been placed on administrative leave for allegedly providing impermissible permits and money to the junior safety at some point over the summer.
By providing money to Clinton-Dix as a “loan,” Harris is in direct violation of NCAA bylaw 188.8.131.52, which permits employees from providing any money or benefits to the players.
In addition to the money, Harris has been found to have connection to a sports agent.
You hope that this is an isolated incident for the Crimson Tide and not a wide spread issue, but you can never be too sure just how much one rotten apple can spoil the entire crew. We will learn more about Harris’ involvement with agents and how he has interacted with his players in the coming weeks.
