The Bellator heavyweight tournament semifinals kicked off at Bellator 102 on Friday night, with Lavar Johnson and Vinicius Spartan kicking off the action. It was Johnson’s first fight since losing two straight and being released from the UFC, so he was fighting to prove a point and find his way back inside of the win column but Spartan would be no easy opponent.

It was expected that both men would be looking to score the early knockout and the two fighters wasted no time going toe-to-toe.

In just a few seconds, Johnson was caught with a huge shot from Spartan that left him stunned and crashing face first in to the ground. The fight was stopped in a few moments later as Johnson was unhappy with the stoppage. No matter how quickly how Johnson woke back up, there is no denying that he was out cold.

The official time of the stoppage was just 23 seconds in to the very first round.

With the win, Spartan will advance to the Bellator heavyweight tournament finals where he will face the winner of Cheick Kongo vs. Mark Godbeer with a title shot on the line.
