Both the unbeaten Florida State Seminoles and unbeaten Maryland Terrapins will get their toughest test of the season when they square off on Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida Saturday afternoon.
The Seminoles are currently ranked eighth in the country and are viewed by many as a national title contender. The Terrapins entered the top 25 this week after their surprising 4-0 start.
In this important ACC Atlantic division matchup, the Seminoles will be without a key contributor.
Redshirt freshman Ukeme Eligwe will be suspended for Saturday’s game, Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher announced Friday.
Eligwe, who is arguably the Seminoles’ best special teams player, has seen most of his time on defense at strongside linebacker as a backup to senior Dan Hicks. The Stone Mountain, Georgia native has 14 tackles, including one for loss.
Fisher told reporters the suspension is for a “violation of team rules.” Starting defensive lineman Eddie Goldman and starting linebacker Christian Jones were suspended for the same reason for the Seminoles ’54-6 victory over the Bethune Cookman Wildcats on September 21.
The Seminoles and Terrapins will kick off at noon EST Saturday.
