No. 23 Fresno St. vs. Idaho final score: Bulldogs blow out Vandals 61-14

Sometimes announcers like to point out that even thought a score may appear that one team won by a large margin, the game was ‘closer than the score appeared’. Well in Fresno State’s game against Idaho on Saturday you could say that the winning margin of 37 points was ‘not as close as it looked.

The Bulldogs scored early and often on the Vandals en route to a 47 point halftime lead, at which point they called the dogs off. Fresno St. remains undefeated at 5-0 and Idaho falls to 1-5 on the year, their lone win coming against the lowly Temple Owls last week.

Fresno St. compiled an astonishing 734 yards of total offense on the day. That is not a misprint, I double checked. They threw for 422 yards and added a mere 312 on the ground. Keep in mind that the Bulldogs also turned the ball over 3 times. The score could have been even worse.

Fresno St. is clearly the class of the MWC conference and it looks like it will remain that way. The Bulldogs have a definite chance of winning their remaining slate of games and finding themselves in a decent bowl game come New Years.
