In my opinion this is the marquee match up of the Saturday line up. The Bundesliga doesn’t get the love that the English Premier League, La Liga, or even the Italian Serie A league get in the United States.

This game has a loaded and talented Bayern Munich squad, who won the Champions League last May, and have been in three of the last four Champions League finals.

Munich’s opponent, Bayer Leverkusen, isn’t weak competition by any means. They are playing in the Champions League this season and currently sit in third place in the Bundesliga table, one spot behind Bayern Munich.

Both managers were quick to praise their opponents.

“Bayern are tactically incredibly flexible and everybody knows how tough it’s going to be, but I go even into this game to win it,” Bayer Leverkusen coach Sami Hyypia said, via ESPN FC.

“Bayern are currently stronger than they were a month ago and they are getting better by the week, but it’s not automatically the best who win in football, but often the one who has the best form on the day. I’m not one of those who gives up before a game. We’ve got to give it 100% and then anything is possible.”

“Leverkusen are very dangerous; they are only a point behind us,” Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola said. “Receiving praise in October is not a good thing. We’ve got to be playing our best football in the spring.”
