Marouane Fellaini aims to be the new heart and soul at Old Trafford under new manager David Moyes, a man he played for at Everton as well.

During the glory years at Man United in the 1990’s there was a defensive mid who stamped out his ground and owned it. The name was Roy Keane, and what a terror he was in some great Premier League battles.

There exists quite a few similarities between Roy and Marouane other than the mutual position they played.

Both with fiery tempers, Both played a nice ball out of the middle, allowing their teammates to move forward, and not be subject to a 50/50 situation like so many players are when their teammate gets rid of the ball like it’s a hot potato.

These are guys who you don’t like to play against, but beg and plead with management to go and find for your own squad. Many times they will go unnoticed, except to the guys in their own locker room.

Both of these players also have enjoyed international duty with nations that are considered second tier in Keane with Ireland, and Fellaini with Belgium, but do not mistake their lack of notoriety internationally, for the fact that they just flat out bring it.

Those in the game this decade with Fellaini, and in the 1990’s and 2000’s know quite well that if you’re going into a midfield battle against them, maybe wearing an extra pair of shin guards might not be a bad idea.

Fans of the mighty United didn’t know what to expect from Fellaini other than he’s the guy with crazy afro, but this prideful man from Etterbeek, Belgium is Six foot Four of I’m going to give you everything I’ve got, and joins a group of talented individuals who can only hope to see the multitude of championships that the old guard of Ince, Keane, Bruce, Schmeichel, Pallister, Kanchelskis, and the youngsters Beckham, Butt, Scholes, and Giggs earned.
