Danny Granger: ‘It was a good first step’

Danny Granger made his return after missing most of last season. It wasn’t a good performance, but the fact that he was able to play is huge for the Pacers. He went 2 for 10 on the night, and his lone highlight was a 3 pointer from the corner. Granger said after the game that this was a good first step, per ESPN.com:

“It was a good first step,” Granger said. “My second wind didn’t kick in during the first half like it usually does, but it was good to get that under my belt.”

His role is still undecided, but on Saturday he came off the bench, and Lance Stephenson started. Struggling should be expected from Granger, and as he finds his legs, he should get better. Head coach Frank Vogel had something to say as well:

“He was a little rusty, and I wouldn’t expect anything but that,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. “His game condition is in the final part of his recovery.”

The Pacers have a good chance to make it out of the East, but Danny Granger finding a successful role could determine a lot.
