WWE.com is reporting that Divas Champion AJ Lee has been sent home from tonight’s Monday Night Raw at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
They are reporting that after her title defense against Brie Bella at last night’s WWE Battleground pay per view she began to develop concussion like symptoms, and as such is unable to compete tonight on Raw.
WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann talked to WWE.com about the extent of her injuries.
We spoke with AJ and she informed us that … she struck her head against the turnbuckle and was having headaches and some difficulty remembering her match,” Amann said. “We examined her and noted that she had some problems with balance and memory recall. She was, therefore, diagnosed with a concussion, instructed to rest and not do anything either physically or psychologically strenuous.” ~ WWE.com
She was re-evaluated today, and was said to have been exhibiting some of the same symptoms, and was thus held off of the show as a precaution.
Right now, there is no timetable for her return to the ring.
Dr. Amann told WWE.com that there would have to be follow up tests before her availability could be further discussed.
She was re-evaluated today and was still having some symptoms so we are currently waiting for her symptoms to improve before administering an impact test,” he said. ~ WWE.com
We certainly wish the Divas Champion the best during her recovery. Head injuries are certainly nothing to play around with, and we would hope that she is able to make a full recovery soon.
