The Red River Rivalry weekend is approaching. Both teams are getting new uniforms for the game with gold accents throughout because of the “Golden Hat Trophy” awarded to the winner of the game.

It takes some getting used to seeing as someone who has watched a lot of Oklahoma and Texas games. I like the touch though, it is subtle and simple. Nike always makes quality looking uniforms for the most part except when they’re intentionally getting crazy like with Oregon’s uniforms.

The two sides have been playing one another since 1900. Texas currently has the upper hand in the overall record, 59-43-5. The game moved to Dallas in 1912, picked because it is half way between the two schools, and Texas holds the edge in Dallas 47-39-4. Oklahoma heads into the 2013 match up as favorites and riding a 3 game win streak in the game..

There are a lot more photos on the Oklahoma Sooners’ athletic department website.
