Of all the drama that ensued from the Texas Longhorns’ narrow victory over Iowa State on Thursday night, one of the more sickening ones was the fact that we saw a Texas wide receiver, Mike Davis, take a blatant, dangerous cheap shot at the knees of an Iowa State defender after his team had scored a touchdown. It was in plain view of virtually everyone–well, except that of Mack Brown who vehemently argued with the officials about the 15-yard penalty that resulted.

On Monday, Davis was asked about the play and instead of apologizing for his lack of disregard for another player’s safety, he defended the incident by head-scratchingly saying that he would do it again:

All of the scrutiny about he and his program and their play on the field aside for a second, I think that it’s about time that Brown reprimands Davis before he does indeed hurt someone on the field–which he obviously has every intention of doing.
