The SEC has announced their Players of the Week from last weekend’s games and the list was headlined by LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger and Florida cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy, who earned offensive and defensive honors, respectively.
Mettenberger threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns, while Purifoy racked up four tackles, three pass break ups, one interception, one sack and forced one fumble.
In additional to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors, Purifoy was recognized as the National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Here are all of the SEC Players of the Week from Week 6 of the college football season:
Offensive Player: Zach Mettenberger, quarterback, LSU
Defensive Player: Loucheiz Purifoy, cornerback, Florida
Special Teams: Marshall Morgan, kicker, Georgia
Freshman: Carl Lawson, defensive end, Auburn
Offensive Lineman: Chris Burnette, guard, Georgia
Defensive Lineman: Michael Sam, defensive end, Missouri
