The Dallas Cowboys need help along the defensive line and could use Jay Ratliff back in the line up. Ratliff is due to return from the physically unable to perform list next week and could be ready to go. Unfortunately, the Cowboys don’t know when he’ll be ready.

“His time frame is to be determined,’’ executive vice president Stephen Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News.

The Cowboys don’t really know what the status of his conditioning because he has been rehabbing away from the team and practice facility.

“We are comfortable with what he’s doing in his rehabilitation,’’ Jones said. “We know he is working hard to get back, to get a taste. We want him back. He’s obviously a big asset for us.

“But we’ll have to wait and see when that will happen.’’

The Cowboys defense has lost defensive ends Anthony Spencer and Tyrone Crawford for the season already. Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher is banged up. Of course if he isn’t in shape, trotting him out into the line up simply to fill a hole won’t help either. Cowboys fans can only hope that he is in shape and ready to go. If he is, he could be a huge boost for this defense.
