David Ortiz Uses An Aluminum Bat In Batting Practice

We all know what kind of power David Ortiz has. Imagine if he used an aluminum bat like players use in college? Well, Ortiz decided to break one out during batting practice before the Red Sox and Rays division series game yesterday. Check it out here and note the sound the ball makes coming off the bat.

This is why you don’t use aluminum bats in the major leagues. Guys are too strong and too talented and the ball comes off the bat so quickly that fielders and pitchers may not be able to react fast enough.

It’s still a pretty cool and interesting thing to watch. Ortiz has done it before, but not necessarily before playoff games. Right now the Rays and Red Sox are scoreless in the second in game four of the ALDS.
