After going down with a bicep injury in Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans, Ray McDonald left the 49ers in a precarious situation. Jim Harbaugh’s squad could not afford to suffer another loss to their defensive line, and the news that emerged after McDonald’s MRI was very encouraging.

McDonald’s right bicep is strained, and he is not expected to miss much time. On his radio show on KNBR, head coach Jim Harbaugh said, “We dodged a bullet there. It looks like Ray might have walked one off.”

On Monday, McDonald said that he did not believe the injury to be too serious, and he was apparently right. It remains unclear on exactly how much time the Niners’ defensive end will miss, but it will be minimal. With Aldon Smith out indefinitely, San Fransisco just could not replace another pass rushing force.
