After Matt Kemp was told by doctors that if he continued to play on his ailing ankle, it could shatter, the Dodgers and Kemp knew what he had to do – shut it down.

So with Kemp out for the remainder of the Dodgers’ postseason run, Kemp decided to undergo cleanup surgery on his problematic left shoulder so he’ll be ready for next season.

Per the Dodgers’ Twitter:

Matt Kemp will undergo a left shoulder clean up on his A-C joint today. Matt Kemp is expected to be ready for spring training. #Dodgers

Kemp of course missed a large portion of the regular season due to the shoulder, which was surgically repaired last offseason though was seemingly never right at any point this year.

The Dodgers star outfielder did return for a few games after deeming his shoulder healed, though, during a game in San Francisco against the Giants, Kemp could be seen favoring the shoulder which sent him back to the disabled list.

Both the shoulder and ankle injuries are expected to be healed and Kemp should be back to normal health come next season.
