The Los Angeles Angels have decided to keep manager Mike Scioscia around longer, as well as GM Jerry DiPoto. On the other hand, the organization has decided to part ways with their bench coach Rob Picciolo and hitting coach Jim Eppard.

Scioscia’s contract runs through 2018, while DiPoto’s is up at the end of the 2014 campaign.

Under Scioscia, the Angels went 978-84 this past season, and finished a whopping 18 games behind the Athletics in the AL West.

Via Sports Illustrated:

"Scioscia, a two-time American League Manager of the Year award winner, is 1233-1035 in 14 seasons with the team, winning 90 or more games six times and five division titles.  He also led his team to the 2002 World Series championship."

It’s good to see that Scioscia is staying with the Angels, as that is where he has had a lot of success. If the pieces they brought in don’t pan out the way they were intended to, such as Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, DiPoto could be looking for another job at the end of next season. The Angels made big moves in recent years to strive for continued success, but missing the playoffs obviously wasn’t what they had in mind. It will be interesting to see how the angels move on from here.
