Nene still isn't healthy

Nene has battled injuries since his days in Denver with the Nuggets. The Wizards traded JaVale McGee for Nene back in 2012, and he hasn’t been full healthy since he joined the team. With Emeka Okafor out indefinitely with a neck injury, the Wizards will be relying on him to be an inside presence. Well, according to CSN Washington, Nene still isn’t without pain:

“No, no no no,” Nene said quickly to CSN Washington, though with a smile, about playing more Saturday when the Wizards face the Chicago Bulls in Rio de Janeiro. “I don’t worry about minutes even in Brazil because I’m a pro. I don’t want to get sore, get hurt. I still have a couple of issues. Just because I feel better, they think I feel great but they’re wrong.  We need to reduce (it) a couple minutes.

“My knee is still sore. My foot still hurts a little bit. Just trying to push (through),” said Nene, who didn’t play basketball during the off-season and opted for rehabilitation. “The therapy is making me feel better.”

He had foot issues in the beginning of last year, and ended the season with sore knees. The Wizards will need his skill-set to compete for a playoff spot, so expect him to play fewer minutes during the remainder of the preseason.
