Things haven’t started out overly well for the Carolina Panthers or quarterback Cam Newton.

The young arm tossed three interceptions in the Panthers Week 4 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and was sacked seven times, though, that’s been somewhat normal this season. As of now, Newton has been sacked fifteen times, good for fourth in the NFL and it’s showing not only in the standings but in the play of Newton who has been very sub-par.

The Panthers signal caller is well aware and suggested that he is partially to blame for the sacks, saying he needs to ‘get better’:

"“We’re in it together. And a lot of those sacks, let’s be quite frank, I could have been better,” Newton said. “I could have stepped up in the pocket, I could have thrown the football away, I could have scrambled and made a play. It’s not just pointing those guys out.”"

Carolina will enter Week 5 with a new offensive line alignment after Amini Silatolu tore ligaments in his knee during the Panthers Week 4 loss.

Coach Ron Rivera says the full week of practice should help the growth of the new line.
