Clippers' forward Blake Griffin injures knee in scrimmage

Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin suffered a bone bruise in his left knee during a scrimmage on Wednesday, according to the team and head coach Doc Rivers.

Blake hurt his knee, but it was nothing bad. But he tweaked it. It was on the dunk attempt. He said he did it going up. So he’s out.

While driving to the basket, he was fouled by Lou Admunson. He stayed down on the floor for a few moments before getting up and shooting two free throws. He did not practice on Thursday and there is no timetable for a return to practice.

A precautionary MRI Wednesday night showed no structural damage to the Clippers’ franchise player. The team will practice again tomorrow before leaving for an exhibition game against the Jazz in Utah on Saturday night. As of now, it appears Griffin will not play Saturday.

“Blake hurt his knee, but it was nothing bad,” Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said before the team practiced on Thursday. “But he tweaked it. It was on the dunk attempt. He said he did it going up. So he’s out.”
