Florida State QB Jameis Winston named Maxwell Award Player of the Week

The awards and accolades just keep on piling in for Florida State Seminoles redshirt freshman QB Jameis Winston, and now he can add yet another one as he gears up for the toughest test of his young career in nine days against the Clemson Tigers.

Thursday, the dynamic quarterback was named the Maxwell Award Player of the Week for week six following his outstanding, dominant performance against the previously-unbeaten Maryland Terrapins.

In the 63-0 drubbing, Winston was 23-of-32 for 393 yards and five touchdowns, including this miraculous strike to tight end Nick O’Leary:

The Maxwell Player of the Week award is given to the player with the most outstanding overall performance for that week. Again, this is not the first award that Winston has racked up and I’m certain that it won’t be the last, especially if he can have another breakout performance next Saturday night in Death Valley.
