The Louisville Cardinals lead the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 17-7 at the half thanks to two interceptions from Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova and a strong performance from Heisman-hopeful Teddy Bridgewater. Nova had a chance to get his team another score right before halftime, but he threw a pass that was picked off at the Louisville 25 yard line. Bridgewater, on the other hand, is putting together his usual stat line: 10-of-14 passing for 154 yards and a touchdown (though he has also thrown a pick).
Thursday’s game is an important one for the Cardinals, and not just because the outcome will impact the AAC (it still feels weird calling the conference that) standings. With their schedule as weak as it is, the Cardinals need to use every national-TV opportunity they get to prove they are one of the elite teams in the nation.
Besides Bridgewater, keep your eye on Louisville running back Senorise Perry in the second half. He’s already run for 51 yards on only seven carries and has scored one of Louisville’s two touchdowns.
