The Tampa Bay Rays ensured they got into the playoffs with a stellar pitching performance from David Price in a win or go home play-in game against the Texas Rangers. Price led the Rays to a win and a playoff berth.
Price and the Rays management haven’t talked about a long-term deal and Price says he is expecting to be traded by the Rays.
“If you go with what’s been done in the past I guess you’re going to have to think you’re going to get traded,” Price said, via the Tampa Tribune. “It’s crossed my mind several time…..in Texas as well and every other (elimination game) we’ve played.”
“You’ve seen it happen a couple of times already I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I know what’s happened in the past,” he said about leaving Tampa. “It’s not disappointing or anything like that. This is a place I love to be. My teammates and everyone in the organization knows that. It’s part of baseball and it’s something I’ve seen go on, it’s kind of something I somewhat prepared myself for.”
Price would definitely draw a lot of interest from teams around the league if he wer eon the trading block. The Rays could be fielding offers and get their pick as teams try to outbid one another.
