Roger Federer handed another early exit

After losing in the second round at Wimbledon, and the fourth round of the US Open, Roger Federer finds himself leaving yet another tournament in the early rounds. This time it’s the Shanghai Masters.

Roger Federer fell to Gael Monfils in third round in three sets, 4-6, 7-6(5), 3-6. This was an important tournament for Roger, as he is trying to gain a berth into the ATP Wold finals which happens in early November. The Shanghai Masters was Federer’s first tournament appearance since his disappointing fourth round exit at the US Open.

Many are questioning how much Roger Federer still has left in the tank, as the meter seems to be reaching the E. Many thought that this year would be a great one for the 17-time Grand Slam Champion, but in actuality, it was anything but great.

Federer will now try to play and win in a couple of tournaments which take place in Basel and Paris in the hopes of qualifying for the eight man tournament at the end of the year. Federer is currently ranked seventh in the world, so nothing is guaranteed.

It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if Roger Federer can make one final push and get himself into the ATP World Tour Finals, but anything can happen.
