The Toronto Raptors are doing their best to generate interest in the franchise. From the announcement that Drake will be an adviser to hopes that they can land hometown star Andrew Wiggins next year, the Raptors are being well received from their fans.
Unfortunately, the team will not be able to get the crowd going at the same rate as last season at home games because the mascot has been injured.
That’s right, the Toronto Raptors mascot will miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. The man, who has not been identified, inside the unnamed mascot has been the team’s mascot for 17 years.
Doug Smith of the Toronto Star passed along the unfortunate news. Fans are apparently taking it rough.
“My daughter cried,” coach Dwane Casey said of the news.
The team has not announced whether or not there will be a replacement raptor for the upcoming season, so stay tuned.
We would like to wish Mr. Raptor Man all the best in his recovery.
