Urban Meyer will weigh his players after bye week

In case you didn’t get the memo, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer takes this whole football thing pretty damn seriously. 6-0 on the year and coming off a big win over Northwestern, Meyer’s Buckeyes have a bye this week. But don’t think the coach is going to allow his players to relax in their extra spare time.

Here’s what Meyer had to say after practice on Wednesday:

Some people see a BYE week and they go act like a jerk over the weekend. That’s not what bye weeks are for. Football is a tough, violent, contact sport, so your joints and shoulders and everything needs a break. That’s what it’s for. To come back 8 pounds underweight or 8 pound overweight and not at least watching football, that would be a disgrace and I’d have a real problem with that. So there is a weigh-in on Monday morning and they better be right on the dot (Coaching Search).
