The championship series’ for both American and National league are officially set and will get underway starting this weekend with the National League starting tonight.
So far this post-season has been full of excitement, it’s great to have October baseball back once again. Now the Detroit Tigers were in a tough series against the Oakland Athletics but managed to pick up the final win of the series to put them up against the heavy hitting Boston Red Sox.
This series will not be a pushover for either side, but if Detroit dares to hang anything over the plate Boston will make them pay. I believe the Red Sox hit like eight home runs in a game against this Detroit Tigers team back in the beginning of September.
Starting right handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez will take the mound in the first game of the series against Jon Lester. Sanchez struggled in his last outing after only pitching four 1/3 innings against the Athletics in game three of the series.
Sanchez gave up eight hits and gave up six runs with five of them earned. His ERA for that game was a whopping 10.38, so a risky start for this Detroit Tigers team. The regular season Sanchez had was a lot better as he posted an excellent 2.57 ERA through 182 innings pitched with a 14-8 record.
So he’s not that terrible of a pitcher, all the time.
Game 1 of this series will begin tomorrow at 8:07 eastern on FOX.
