With help from Marian Gaborik among others, the Columbus Blue Jackets were able to roll past the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, winning 4-1.
The win brought Columbus to 2-1-0 on the season, while the loss just adds to the total of Buffalo, as they fall to 0-4-1. It it the team’s worst start to a season since the 1999-2000 campaign, when they went 0-5-2 to start the season.
Sabres goalie, Ryan Miller, played in his first game on Thursday since pulling his groin last Friday against Ottawa. He understands that it’s the series of losses is just a phase, and they’ll get through it soon. On ESPN.com, Miller talked about the team’s season thus far,
We have guys in here that can make plays, we just have to get past this little hump we’re having trouble with and you can’t just work hard get a puck and not do anything with it. We have to start doing things with it.
Along with Gaborik, goals were scored by Cam Atkinson, Nick Foligno, and Brandon Dubinsky for the Blue Jackets. Buffalo’s lone goal came from Thomas Vanek in the first period.
Columbus’ next game is at home against the Boston Bruins, while Buffalo will try to get their first win of the season as they travel to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks.
