A look at Oregon and Washington uniforms through the years

With the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies ready to do battle in Seattle tomorrow, The Oregonian just published a cool through-the-years retrospective detailing the evolution of each school’s uniforms. If you have some time to kill, check it out here. In the spirit of sartorial change, Saturday’s game will see the use of these sweet Washington helmets, and the Oregon Ducks have taken things a step further (surprise, surprise) by giving their cheerleaders ocular makeovers.

Be warned: The slideshow may blind you and/or cause you to retch. As bad as some of the Oregon uniforms look now, they have nothing on the crimes against fashion committed back in 2004 and 2005 (pictures 31 and 32 of the slideshow, respectively).

Saturday’s game will be the 106th meeting between the two rivals. Oregon is seeking their tenth consecutive win over Washington, an unprecedented mark considering the Huskies lead the series 58-42-5. Oregon dominated last year’s game, winning 52-21 in Autzen, but Washington should put up a better fight this year thanks to their retooled offense.
