Players across the league are going to be filing for free agency with hopes of being picked up during the Winter Meetings in a couple months.

Today a short list of names have been released. First up on the list is infielder Gil Valezquez of the Miami Marlins. Velazquez just picked up one at bat for the Marlins this season, so it’s not a major loss for the team.

Right handed pitcher Victor Marte who was on the St. Louis Cardinals roster a few times this season spent 45 games at the Triple-A level. He posted a 4.39 ERA but failed to keep a spot on the 40 man roster. Right now his team is getting ready to play the Dodgers in the National League Championship series.

Roberto Coello of the Angels missed most of the season due to a shoulder injury and elbow soreness. If he can manage to stay healthy, he should find himself in another Major League bullpen with whoever decides to take a chance on him.

Chicago Cubs catcher J.C. Boscan played in only six games this season for the Cubbies and should pick up a minor league contract this Winter.

Minnesota Twins Doug Bernier was out righter off the 40 man roster last week and has decided to test the free agent market. The 33 year old shortstop batted .226/.339/.283 over 33 games this season for the Twins.

The Tampa Bay Rays have two players who elected to leave the organization. Pitcher  J.D. Martin was taken off the Rays 40 man roster last month and will look to latch onto another team’s minor league farm system this Winter.

Outfielder Jason Bourgeois was also removed from the 40 man roster. The Rays could possibly bring back David DeJesus who is a solid defender.
