BYU Cougars star senior linebacker Spencer Hadley was suspended indefinitely in mid-September for a violation of team rules, and you can read about his comments on why he was suspended here. Hadley recorded eight tackles in just two games prior to his suspension, and he was also able to break up two passes.
According to KSL.com’s Greg Wrubell, the BYU Cougars are getting Spencer Hadley back from his suspension today, and he is back at Cougars practice after being cleared to return to the field by BYU. However, his status for tomorrow’s key game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is uncertain, as BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall will have to make the yay-or-nay call on whether or not Hadley sees game action a day after clearance. It’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not Mendenhall will allow Hadley to return, but there is no doubt that his return would be key in helping to stop Georgia Tech’s option attack.
Hadley is a high-impact player on this BYU defense, and he had an exceptional junior campaign in 2012 with 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and he had a hand in a few fumbles and pass break-ups. He’s such an important player in run defense, and his ability to make plays all over the field; it’s a treat to watch both Hadley and Kyle Van Noy go to work.
