Patricio Freire fought Fabricio Guerreiro tonight at Bellator 103 and completely dominated him en route to a Unanimous decision. Pitbull will fight Justin Wilcox in the final of the Featherweight Tournament. ‘Pitbull’, known for his impressive knockouts, somewhat surprisingly out-grappled Guerreiro for the entirety of the fight.
Round 1 began with each man sizing each other up. Guerreiro was going for a Judo throw, but Pitbull reversed and got him down. The rest of the round saw some decent ground and pound from Pitbull, and some very nice escapes and transitions from Guerreiro. The first round did not really have a moment that stood out to steal the round for either fighter. I have it 10-9 Pitbull on my card for more effective striking and grappling.
Round 2 started with a quick takedown from Guerreiro, but a beautiful switch and elevation from Pitbull to reverse it. Pitbull was bullying Guerreiro from the clinch on the fence and Guerreiro threw some nice knees in reply. Big John separated the men for inactivity. After the restart, Guerreiro landed some really nice strikes including a head kick during a short standing exchange. Pitbull pushed Guerreiro right back to the fence and pretty much stalled. Big John restarted them in the center again. Pitbull landed a really nice left hand. Followed it up by another nice left hand. A nice low kick by Guerreiro. Big overhand right misses for Pitbull. Guerreiro is definitely hanging in there in the stand up. Pitbull lands a very nice takedown to end the round. Again 10-9 Pitbull
Round 3 was dominated by Pitbull’s grappling. Pitbull was on top of Guerreiro for the entire first half, then a little clinching which ended with a big slam by Pitbull. Pitbull had a really nice slam. The last minute of the fight was the best striking of the entire fight. Guerreiro landed a few nice punches, but it was too little too late. The fight was completely dominated by Pitbull
