Cleveland Browns sign Charles Johnson, place Brian Hoyer on injured reserve

I can’t think about the way Hoyer went down after being tackled by Kiko Alonso without wanting to throw myself to the ground and lay motionless for a couple of hours.

That looked like it hurt pretty bad. I played football for a couple seasons as an offensive lineman and experienced some serious knee injuries myself.

The memories of those injuries hit me all at once when they replayed the hit over and over.

I actually cursed them for awhile. Anyways, today the Cleveland Browns have officially placed quarterback Brian Hoyer on the injured reserve which will end his season. Hoyer needed surgery to repair his torn ACL as he went under the knife yesterday.

He should be ready for the start of training camp in 2014.

Now with Hoyer out, the Cleveland Browns have signed wide receiver Charles Johnson. Johnson suffered a sprained MCL in June after spending a couple weeks on Green Bay’s practice squad.

He was a seventh round pick in this years draft out of Grand Valley State and could see some snaps in four wide receiver sets.
