A big question mark for the Dallas Stars heading into the 2013-14 NHL season was in net as Kari Lehtonen has a tendency to get injured often. Those fears have already come to fruition, as the goaltender sustained a lower-body injury against the Winnipeg Jets on October 11. As per the Dallas Morning News:
The Dallas Stars announced today that goaltender Jack Campbell has been recalled under emergency conditions from the Texas Stars, Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Goaltender Kari Lehtonen suffered a lower body injury in Friday’s game against Winnipeg and is currently listed as day-to-day.
Lehtonen’s usual backup, Dan Ellis, will get the start for Dallas tonight as they take on the Minnesota Wild.

Ellis managed to stop 22 of the 23 shots he faced against the Jets, as Winnipeg downed the Stars by a 4-1 final. Things could get interesting for Dallas if Ellis struggles against the Wild. They don’t play back-to-back games this week, so a strong showing will likely lead to Ellis securing a few more starts.
If things go sideways for him though, Campbell is regarded as the goaltender of the future in Dallas and he could receive a few games in the big leagues to see how he’s progressed.
