Earlier this week, it was pretty likely that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick would miss the Week 6 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury. However, Vick himself stated that he was feeling better than expected and hinted that if given the opportunity, he’d be able to play.

That does not appear to be the case, at least according to ESPN who is reporting that Vick will not play this weekend:

"Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will not play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a hamstring injury, an NFL source familiar with the situation told ESPN.com on Saturday."

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been pressed all week on backup Nick Foles‘ status and routinely hinted that if Foles plays well, the Eagles may continue to keep him in a starting role. Vick, completely aware of this, could have been trying to suggest he was feeling better in an effort not to potentially lose his starting job.

It’s not currently known when Vick will return or if he’ll be active in Week 6.
