Missouri corner E.J. Gaines leaves game against Georgia Bulldogs with quad strain

If the No. 25 Missouri Tigers hope to upset the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs on the road, they may have to do so without star corner E.J. Gaines. The senior left the game in the second quarter after surrendering a long pass play, and the reports from the sideline indicate that he has a quad strain. He’s questionable to return.

If Gaines is unable to play in the rest of the game, it will be a huge loss for the Tigers. Gaines has three of the team’s 11 interceptions on the year, and he is second on the team with 32 total tackles. Look for Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who leads the SEC in passing yards per game (306.8), to take advantage of Gaines’ absence.

The game is currently being broadcast on ESPN. The Tigers lead the Bulldogs 21-10 with just about six minutes remaining in the half, having just scored on an electrifying touchdown run by junior Marcus Murphy. We’ll be keeping you updated about the game, so stay tuned if you’re unable to watch it yourself.
