Missouri's James Franklin leaves game against Georgia with shoulder strain

Missouri Tigers quarterback James Franklin left the game against the Georgia Bulldogs at roughly the ten-minute mark in the fourth quarter with what’s being reported as a shoulder strain. Franklin had completed 18 of his 27 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown before the injury. He’s the second big-name Missouri Tiger to leave the game today; star cornerback E.J. Gaines strained his right quad in the first half.

The injury didn’t derail Missouri’s drive, though. A few plays after Franklin exited the game, the Tigers ran a double pass that resulted in a 40-yard touchdown from Bud Sasser to L’Damian Washington. However, the extra point, which would have given the Tigers a nine-point lead, was missed. The score is currently 34-26, and there are under eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Freshman quarterback Maty Mauk is filling in for Franklin.

The game is shaping up to have an epic ending, so I’d advised tuning in on ESPN. Or keep checking back here with FanSided for updates and scores throughout the contest.
