St. Louis Cardinals announce Lance Lynn as NLCS Game 4 starting pitcher

Although St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny had no problem announcing his starters for the first three games of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was a bit more hesitant about naming his Game 4 starter.

That’s likely because he was waiting to see the outcome of Game 1, which the Cardinals won in thrilling fashion.

Now with a 1-0 series lead, Matheny announced that Lance Lynn will get the start in Game 4.

Per Jim Bowden:

Lance Lynn is Game 4 Cardinals starter

Lynn hasn’t exactly been lights out this season and has been relatively awful on the road, posting a 5.15 ERA away from Busch Stadium, not exactly the most promising news considering he’ll be starting Game 4 in Los Angeles. Of course, Lynn did just so happen to throw his best road game of the year against the Dodgers in the City of Angels earlier this year, picking up a win in a six inning start where he struck out nine and only allowed two hits.

The Cardinals could have went with Joe Kelly on essentially normal rest for Game 4, and they still might, but for now Lynn is the scheduled starter.
