For some reason, the idea of being a ballgirl or ballguy (seriously – that’s a word?!) seems intriguing to many. And maybe on the surface it is. You get to dress in full uniform while sitting on the field during a Major League Baseball game. Neat, right? Sure. But what happens when you have a screaming line drive coming at you? Unless you’re playing in a semi-professional league in your spare time, you likely haven’t caught a baseball in years – at least not one with such velocity. Then you have the added stress of playing the fair/foul game. The last thing you want to do is pick up a fair ball as 40,000 plus give you stank eye while players and managers bark obscenities your way. Oh – and then you have to deal with potentially getting hammered in the face by a wayward foul ball, like this young lady who took one in the grill during Game 1 of the ALCS Saturday night.

Yeah, doesn’t seem so fun now.
