Earlier this year, Fallon Fox told Outsports that she had gender reassignment surgery and was previously a male. This news came after Fox had already demolished two female opponents in the cage. Fighters, promoters, and fans alike all had differing opinions from anger, to unfair advantage, to disgust. One fighter in particular, Matt Mitrione, took his opinion a bit too far on Ariel Helwani’s show, the MMA hour.
Mitrione went on a tirade against Fox stating that she had an unfair advantage before completely bashing her as a human being. Mitrione was suspended for the rant, and the Fallon Fox train slowed after that.
Last night, Fox fought for the 4th time in her professional career, and lost for the first time. Fox was dominated by her opponent, Ashlee Evans-Smith, who routinely got the takedown and was landing some heavy ground and pound for the eventual finish. Fox almost finished Ashlee on the feet in the first round, but Ashlee showed incredible toughness to make it through the onslaught. After that, the fight was all Ashlee. Fox could not handle the pressure that Ashlee routinely applied. Fox was almost finished at the end of the second round, but the bell saved her. The third round bell could not save Fox, however, as she was mounted and finished at the 3:15 mark in the round.
